GOOD TO KNOW

Soft waves look best on a clean base

Sebum and product buildup are especially noticeable in fine, wavy hair: It can lose volume and not hold its shape as well. That’s why you should wash your curls as needed, rather than on a set schedule. If your curls feel heavy or weighed down despite your hair care routine, an occasional clarifying wash can help.

IT'S ALL ABOUT BALANCE

Care Should Be Easy

Fine waves need just as much care as other types of curls; they just show signs of being over-styled more quickly. So adjust the amount and richness of the product to suit your curls. If your waves become limp, heavy, and lose their shape, using less product can make a big difference.

A LITTLE CAN GO A LONG WAY

With leave-in products, it's all about the amount you use

Even fine waves love leave-in conditioner. The key is in the amount: Start with a small amount of product and add more only as needed. Particularly dry or high-porosity waves may need more care than healthy, low-porosity waves.
So the wave pattern alone doesn’t determine how much care your hair needs.

FORM NEEDS SUPPORT

Definition occurs during drying

Waves can lose their shape more easily due to their own weight. So work your styling product into very damp curls, scrunch them to bring them together, and let them dry as undisturbed as possible or diffuse them. If a gel cast forms, don’t work it out until your waves are completely dry.
